5+ years of full-stack experience, with strong front-end experience and solid Python back-end skills
Expert-level TypeScript
Expert-level React
Strong HTML and CSS experience
Significant Python experience, ideally with FastAPI, Pydantic, and async SQLAlchemy
Experience with server-side rendering in a full-stack React framework (e.g., TanStack Start, Next.js)
Front-end architecture experience: reusable component libraries, forms and validation, data fetching and caching, and front-end performance
UX experience, translating Figma designs into polished, accessible, responsive interfaces
Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs, including OpenAPI contracts and typed API clients
Solid PostgreSQL skills: relational schema design, migrations, indexes and constraints, and transactions
Comfort with strict static typing in both TypeScript and Python
Experience writing automated tests (e.g., pytest, Vitest, Testing Library)
Experience with Docker and Docker Compose for local development
Experience with Git, pull-request code reviews, and CI pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions)
Experience with coding agents and AI-assisted engineering tools
Ability to review, evaluate, and refine AI-generated code
Strong collaboration skills with a team mentality
Demonstrated ability to work in unison with other engineers, product team, design team, AI team, etc
Startup experience and a move-fast mentality
Strong communication skills in both spoken and written English

Thinks through problems out loud in a clear, structured way: first steps, why, and what to ask when info is missing
Has owned features end to end, from data model to Python/FastAPI API to a polished React/TypeScript front end
Ramps up fast in a startup and uses AI tools well while still owning the quality of the code

Experience with TanStack Start, TanStack Router, and TanStack Query
Experience with Mantine or a similar React component library and design system
Experience with OAuth 2.0 / OpenID Connect and identity providers (e.g., Keycloak)
Experience with multi-tenant SaaS and fine-grained authorization (e.g., SpiceDB or other Zanzibar-style systems)
Experience with gRPC and Protocol Buffers
Experience with Google Cloud Platform, Kubernetes, and GitOps deployment (e.g., Argo CD, Helm)
Experience with geospatial data and maps (e.g., PostGIS, Leaflet, Google Maps)
Experience building Education Technology products
Experience with solutions in regulated environments handling PII (e.g., education, healthcare), including student privacy rules such as FERPA
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent

Build and evolve an Education Technology platform with web applications for families, school staff, and our internal operations team
Raise the bar for front-end quality across the team: component design, accessibility, performance, and UX polish
Ship features end-to-end: PostgreSQL schema and migrations, Python (FastAPI) services and APIs, and React screens built with TanStack Start, Mantine, and TypeScript
Work in a modular, domain-driven monorepo (Python and TypeScript), and read and write Architecture Decision Records before making significant changes
Build secure, multi-tenant features: sign-in through OpenID Connect (Keycloak), fine-grained permissions, and careful handling of student and family data
Investigate and fix bugs, performance bottlenecks, and related issues
Safeguard code quality through peer reviews, automated testing, strict CI quality gates, and established best practices
Produce clean, efficient, and well-documented code
Partner with cross-functional teams across product management, design, and engineering to ship reliable solutions
Keep current with emerging technologies and industry trends
