Requirements
Must-haves
- 5+ years of software development experience
- Experience building web apps with PHP, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
- Experience with C# or Java is considered if you have a desire to work in PHP
- Experience working with MySQL (raw SQL and PHP-based ORMs)
- Experience designing and building RESTful APIs
- Experience integrating with third-party APIs
- Expertise in designing highly cohesive, loosely coupled objects
- Fluent use of a distributed version control system like Git
- Strong communication skills in both spoken and written English
Nice-to-haves
- Startup experience
- Experience building applications designed to run in a cloud-native environment
- Experience building React-based apps written in TypeScript
- Familiarity building and maintaining HIPAA-compliant software
- Location in Central or Mountain time zones
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent
What you will work on
- Collaborate with product leaders in the development of new features
- Collaborate with front-end devs to wire up the UI
- Build well-structured, readily comprehensible, easily maintainable software
- Code backend business logic, developing APIs for client and customer use
- Integrate with third-party APIs and tackle issues throughout the codebase
- Work to improve system performance and resilience, upgrade current tech stack as needed
- Automate tedious manual processes to lighten the maintenance load of the whole team
- Take substantial features from concept to completion as the sole developer
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers to help them level up their understanding of OOP and code design
- Look beyond the element at hand to consider the broader system and the dynamics and interactions at play
