Requirements

Must-haves

  • 5+ years of mobile development experience, with substantial production iOS experience
  • Experience with Swift, building and maintaining production mobile applications
  • Experience with Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP)
  • Deep understanding of iOS architecture and native platform development
  • Experience with applications beyond straightforward UI and REST API consumption
  • Experience with complex application state, networking, persistence, or device integrations
  • Ability to work across Swift and Kotlin boundaries
  • Deep understanding of concurrency (Swift Concurrency, Kotlin Coroutines)
  • Interest in AI-assisted and agentic software development, with the ability to clearly explain how AI tools fit into your engineering workflow
  • Based in Brazil
  • Strong communication skills in both spoken and written English

What makes you stand out

  • Substantial production experience with Swift and iOS, having owned meaningful technical decisions rather than just executing tickets
  • Real Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP) experience, or strong Kotlin/native experience, with a clear understanding of shared modules and coroutines
  • Comfortable discussing architecture, concurrency, state management, networking, persistence, testing, performance, and production trade-offs
  • Candidates with hardware-oriented mobile experience have a strong advantage: worked with BLE, connected hardware, sensor data, watchOS, firmware, offline systems, or similarly complex mobile infrastructure.
  • Comfortable reading TypeScript/Node.js, understanding an API/BFF, reasoning about contracts between mobile and backend, and making small backend changes when necessary.
  • History of challenging architectural decisions, catching technical risks, or improving engineering practices

Nice-to-haves

  • Startup experience
  • Experience with CoreBluetooth/Bluetooth Low Energy, connected hardware, watchOS/Apple Watch companion apps, firmware or OTA update systems, high-frequency sensor data, offline-first mobile systems, complex synchronization systems
  • Ability to read TypeScript/Node.js and reason about API/BFF contracts between mobile and backend
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent

What you will work on

  • This is a mobile-first, systems-oriented engineering role centered on a comprehensive fitness platform that combines exercise, sleep, nutrition, wearable, and sensor data to make health tracking more effortless and precise
  • The exercise component focuses on functional fitness (box jumps, weightlifting, full-body movements), with the platform built on Swift for iOS, Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP) for shared mobile logic, and a TypeScript-based backend/platform layer
  • The engineering scope goes beyond a conventional REST-based mobile app, spanning BLE-connected hardware, high-frequency sensor capture, local persistence and sync, firmware updates, and Apple Watch integration — with AI-assisted and agentic development as a core part of the daily workflow
  • Own the iOS application and its technical direction, from architecture through release
  • Design and maintain iOS architecture, and make technical decisions for the Apple platform
  • Build production features and functionality in Swift
  • Work extensively with Kotlin Multiplatform and manage Swift/Kotlin interoperability
  • Contribute to shared Kotlin mobile modules where appropriate
  • Build and maintain BLE/connected-device integrations
  • Work with high-frequency sensor data and reliable local/cloud synchronization
  • Contribute to firmware/OTA update functionality
  • Support Apple Watch and companion-device integrations
  • Collaborate with backend/platform engineers on APIs and contracts
  • Contribute to TypeScript/Node.js backend or BFF work when needed
  • Translate product and design requirements into production-ready implementations
  • Review pull requests, participate in architecture discussions, and maintain engineering standards
  • Help define testing strategies and improve automated coverage
  • Debug complex mobile, networking, device and synchronization issues
  • Use AI agents and AI-assisted tools as part of the everyday workflow, beyond simple autocomplete
  • Establish reusable AI-assisted development patterns and project context
  • Review AI-generated code critically and understand what's being shipped
