Requirements

Must-haves

  • 3+ years of UX/UI design experience
  • Experience designing reusable components for React-based applications (coding isn't required)
  • Complete portfolio showcasing strong UX/UI work to be presented during the interview
  • Experience building and maintaining design system components
  • Experience delivering under tight deadlines
  • Proficiency with Figma or similar design tools
  • Ability to solve complex UX problems independently
  • Strong communication skills in both spoken and written English

What makes you stand out

  • You build on what exists. You're comfortable starting with an established library rather than designing from scratch
  • You bring a designer's point of view. Product owns the requirements, and you make them better
  • You make confident design decisions and can explain the reasoning behind them
  • You ramp fast and ship meaningful work within your first few weeks

Nice-to-haves

  • Startup experience
  • Experience designing healthcare or care coordination applications
  • Knowledge of healthcare and accessibility standards (e.g. WCAG, HIPAA)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in UX/UI Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), or equivalent

What you will work on

  • Partner with an experienced designer to speed up the delivery of the next version of a healthcare platform used by major health systems.
    • As part of a high-priority initiative, you’ll work closely with product and engineering from the start, taking designs from concept to developer handoff and building intuitive, accessible interfaces suited to clinical workflows.
  • Design end-to-end user experiences for healthcare applications, from initial flows to developer handoff
  • Build high-fidelity mockups and responsive prototypes in Figma
  • Ensure designs meet usability, accessibility (WCAG), and HIPAA compliance standards
  • Turn product requirements documents (PRDs) into designs and propose new design ideas
  • Expand and maintain reusable components in the existing design system
  • Collaborate with front-end developers to align designs with implementation and performance goals
  • Provide developer-ready specs and support design QA for fast, accurate handoffs
  • Iterate quickly within an agile product team
  • What success looks like in your first 30 days
    • Learn our design library side by side with our current designer.
    • Learn the product from our product team, from the current demo to the MVP plan.
    • Contribute real work early by building on the existing library and suggesting improvements.
  • By 90 days
    • Work independently from PRDs, without pairing on every task.
    • Own design delivery as an individual contributor and help speed up the path to MVP.
    • Help build out the design library now that we're a two-designer team.
